The final piece of our 6-session series, the arts-and-craftiest of them all!
The Finishing Touch: Makeup, Hair, and Costume - Sunday 10/20 12-2pm
Now that your routine is all ready, what face are you putting forward on stage? We'll talk about making the right choices for making your makeup and costuming really get the message across from the stage. We'll also go over budget costuming, tips and tricks, day-of timing and preparation, and everything else makeup-and-hair!
This will be a lot of discussion and playing with makeup, clothing ideas, bling, etc. Please bring any makeup you think you might want to use, as well as costuming pieces - though these are not required.
The 5th of our 6-session series smooths it all out and makes sure you feel ready.
Polishing your Act - Saturday 10/19 3:30-5:30pm
You've got a great act put together, now it's time to polish the little pieces and really make it shine! Work on training yourself to maintain activation, deliberate movement, lines and pointed (or flexed 😉 ) feet. Work on adusting and smoothing transitions - connecting your movements and filling those "in between" moments - as well as managing if something goes wrong on stage. How to practice to make the most of your practice time, while keeping your body rested and ready.
This workshop will have conditioning exercises for extension and activation, with thought exercises both for general concepts, and for particular pieces of each attendees routines.
The 4th of our 6-session series, designed to help you catch and keep your audience with the #aerialstraps #beast Danny Eaux.
Creating your Character - Saturday 10/12 3:30-5:30pm
Tell your story from start to finish. Discover how to create and embody your character with three dimensional story-telling through movement. We will learn how to develop and let that voice carry the transitions in your movements with a distinct signature, really allowing for your tricks to be the punctuation to your phrasing.
Please come with a rough draft of your routine, as well as your music (perhaps two song options), and more ideas. This will include a warm up, creative exercises, and game play to tap into your flow of creativity.
The 3rd of our 6-session series will break you out of your shell.

You're creating your routine, but something's missing... you want to make it more than the base moves, make it yours. In this workshop you will play with different thought exercises to get out of your own head and create #flows unique to you.
This will be a combination of some basics and discussion on the ground, as well as application and practice on your chosen apparatus/activity. Please come with some of your routine movements/tricks already in mind, and a few easy moves to build off of.
The second of our 6-session series, with a global circus performer, choreographer and director! Check the comments for info and signup link
Creating Meaning through Choreography - Friday 9/27 7:30-9:30pm
How to move with purpose. We learn tricks and poses in class, but movement can mean so much more. In this class you will be led through several exercises reviewing core movement theory. The class will play with concepts like working with contrast through speed, height, length and negative space. At the end, the class will work on fun sequences and moves that play with these concepts.
This class will be mainly floor based movements, so wear comfortable workout clothes - preferably that cover the knees. Also bring a t-shirt and socks to protect for sliding movements.
We're doing an amazing workshop series to teach you all about circus performance! *6* different workshops starting in just 10 days 🙂
The first one is All About the Music - Sunday 9/22 6-7:30pm
One of the foundational pieces of a solid act is the music. While you are what they see, the music guides your story. In this workshop we will go over choosing music, mapping your song, and planning your connection to your music of your character or message. Create an amazing performance by using your music to it's greatest potential.
We're going to spend some time listening to music, so come prepared to do so - bring headphones and a way to access music, it will also help if you have some song ideas. Also, this class will involve some time sitting and discussing, so please dress comfortably and bring paper and pen!
