Let’s Get Moving Austin
AerialSIlks
Aerial silks is a tough, yet elegant fabric that suspends you in the air. While it may seem constricting first, you will find that it allows you to climb, twist, and flip your way into an aerial dance that is more freeing than you can imagine.
Our silks class combines performance skills with strength training. Don’t be intimidated by the workout aspect. Our intro class will help you build the strength you need to go as far as you want in your aerial adventure.
Let’s talk levels
1
Level 1
In Level 1 we will get you on the right foot with the very basics – proper form practice, conditioning, and some easy fun moves! No athletic or silks background or experience required – this class is a safe and easy introduction.
2
Level 2
Start getting more air! Increase your strength and flexibility while having fun! Learn new climbs, footlocks, basic wraps, and simple poses. Explore new shapes and begin developing sequences.
3
Level 3
Build on your knowledge of basic climbing and footlocks, wraps, and simple poses – furthering your foundation and preparing you for more advanced moves.
Note: this level is currently 3+ to allow for upper level variations for more advanced students.
K
Kids (Level 1 & 2)
This is for those kids who want to try all of our aerials – currently Pole, Lyra, and Silks – to figure out what they like, or just mix things up! Each week this will be a mixture of at least two different aerial apparatus.
Come have fun swinging, spinning, climbing, and (carefully) inverting! The various aerial arts are a great way for kids to learn complex coordination, gain full body awareness and strength, and work on fine and gross motor skills in a fun and exciting way!
Age requirements: the soft age range for this class is 6-12 but what is more important is that your kiddo can follow instruction for an hour. If they are self driven and focused before 13 they may be able to take the adult classes. If you are at all unsure definitely give us a call! We can help decide which class is right, and are happy to meet your kiddo and determine what’s best.
Attire
Tights, leggings, yoga pants, etc. of at least capri length or longer (covering the backs of the knees) and shirts that can be tucked in, preferably covering the armpits. As the silks can tear, please do not wear things that would snag them (e.g. zipper pulls, buttons, jewelry).
